About us
The aim of Eight-wheeler Models is to provide the collector and modeler with accurate high quality HO scale models of 19th century American locomotives and rolling stock
Eight-wheeler models is run by me, Håkan Nilsson who apart from the passion of model trains also is working professionally as a Mechanical Systems Engineer in the shipbuilding industry. I live with my family in the southeast corner of Sweden in the lovely coastaltown Karlskrona. When there is some spare time (seldom is) I'm working on my fictional HO layout the California Railway & Navigation Company set in Northern California in the 1890s.
Why this interest in American railroads? Well, Sweden was a very poor country at the end of the 19th century so some of my fathers uncles and my grandfather emigrated to the US were they all worked building railroads in the Pacific Northwest. My grandfather came back as most of the uncles but one stayed and settled in Vancouver, Canada. The stories around my fathers uncles has always fascinated me since I was a little boy, hence my interest with American railroads.
The first project is the limited edition brass model of U.S. Military Railroads “General Haupt”.
Other projects will also be launched in the future. Suggestions and ideas for upcoming models as well as help with research are much appreciated.
